Supervised/Therapeutic Parenting Time
We provide Supervised and Therapeutic Parenting Time for those families who have been ordered by the courts or have chosen to have one of the parents be supervised during visits with their children.
In-Home Supervised Parenting
Provides a natural setting for supervised parenting-time.
Off-Site Supervised Parenting
Allows the parent and child to enjoy activities such as dining out, movies, shopping, sports, zoo and museums.
In-Office Supervised Parenting
Family meets at therapists office.
Benefits of the Program:
- Keeping your child safe at all times within the most natural environments possible while accomplishing this with a minimum of additional stress and transition for the child.
- Quick scheduling for urgent situations.
- Scheduling flexibility and availability, we can provide supervised parenting sessions of 6-8 hours duration.
- Alleviating feelings of alienation that can result from the child’s concept that their parent is not to be trusted because they can only spend time with them in a restricted environment.
- Observation and assessment of Parent-Child interactions in more "real world" situations.
- What is Parenting Time?
- Parenting time (also sometimes called "access" or "visitation") is a legal term referring to the opportunity for the child to spend time with the parent/guardian who does not have sole legal custody. This parent often is called the "noncustodial parent."
- Supervised Parenting Time
- A professional (or neutral party everyone agrees on) is usually in the room, or close by, and may listen and make suggestions during, or after, the visit.
- Therapeutic Parenting
- This is a form of family therapy. In Therapeutic Visits, a trained therapist is involved in the session/time together. The therapist is continually assessing for strengths and weaknesses, and ways to build a better, healthy relationship between the child(ren) and the parent. The therapist makes therapeutic interventions as needed and schedules individual sessions when appropriate to strive to meet a therapeutic goal. Helps parent and child to reintegrate. Allows parent to address relationship issues. Parent develops improved parenting skills and understanding of child development. Encourages a healthy relationship between parent and child. Only licensed counselors provide therapeutic services.
